This site uses very few cookies, and this page lists them one by one with their real names and durations. The previous version spoke vaguely of "anonymised analytics tools": that was not precise enough, so here is the detail.
What they are
A cookie is a small file a site saves in your browser and reads again on your next visit. Some keep things working by remembering a choice you made; others tell whoever runs the site how many people arrive and where from. Only the second kind needs your consent.
Technical cookies, always on
These need no consent, because without them the site cannot do what you came for. They are set by this domain.
- _consent_cookie, one year. Records the choice you made on the banner. It is the cookie that stops the notice reappearing on every page, and it lets me demonstrate that consent was collected.
- NEXT_LOCALE, one year. Remembers whether you are reading in Italian or English.
Measurement cookies, only with your consent
These activate only if you press Accept on the banner. If you decline, or close it without choosing, the script is not even loaded: it is not disabled afterwards, it simply never starts.
- _fbp, three months. Set by the Meta pixel (Facebook and Instagram) to recognise the browser between visits.
- _fbc, three months. Set only if you arrive from an ad, to link the visit to that ad.
- fr and other cookies on the facebook.com domain, up to three months. These are set by Meta directly and may be used for advertising profiling.
What is NOT here
Worth stating, because it is unusual: there is no Google Analytics, no Google Fonts loaded from Google's servers (this site serves its own typefaces), no embedded YouTube or Vimeo, no Google Maps, and no social buttons that track on load. Every one of those would have brought further third-party cookies with it.
How to change your mind
Consent can be withdrawn at any time, and withdrawing it is as easy as giving it.
The most direct way: clear this site's cookies from your browser settings. Reload the page and the notice will reappear so you can choose again.
You can also block cookies generally in your browser's privacy preferences. Bear in mind that blocking the technical ones too will stop some things working as they should.
For Meta's personalised advertising you can act directly in your Facebook or Instagram account settings, where the ad controls live.
