What they are

A cookie is a small file that a site saves in your browser and reads again on your next visit. Some make things work (remembering a choice you made), others help whoever runs the site understand how many people arrive and from where. Only the second kind needs your consent.

Technical cookies, always on

They don’t need consent because without them the site can’t do what you came for. They’re set by this domain.

• _consent_cookie, lasts one year. It records the choice you made on the banner. It’s the cookie that stops the notice from coming back on every page, and it lets me show that consent was collected.
• lingua, lasts one year. It remembers whether you chose Italian or English, so the site opens in the language you picked.
• sipario, lasts one year. Before the public launch the site could only be reached through a special address: this cookie remembered that you had used it, so you didn’t have to enter it again on every page. If you never had that address, it doesn’t exist in your browser.

Measurement cookies, only with your consent

They’re activated only if you press “Accept” on the banner. If you decline, or close it without choosing, the script isn’t even loaded: it isn’t switched off afterwards, it simply never starts.

• _fbp, lasts three months. Set by the Meta pixel (Facebook and Instagram) to recognize the browser from one visit to the next.
• _fbc, lasts three months. Set only if you arrive from an ad, to link the visit to that ad.
• fr and other cookies on the facebook.com domain, lasting up to three months. They’re set directly by Meta and may be used for advertising profiling.

What ISN’T here

Worth saying, because it’s rare: there’s no Google Analytics, no Google Fonts loaded from Google’s servers (this site serves its own fonts), no videos embedded from YouTube or Vimeo, no Google Maps, no social buttons that track you on load. Each of these would have brought more third-party cookies with it.

How to change your mind

You can withdraw consent at any time, and withdrawing it is as easy as giving it.

The most direct way: the button below reopens the notice, with the choice you made. You can also delete this site’s cookies from your browser settings: when you reload, the notice will come back.

You can also block cookies in general from your browser preferences, under privacy. Keep in mind that if you block the technical ones too, some things will stop working as they should.
